Hello City Council of Menlo Park,
My name is Samina Kaushek, and I live in Los Altos, CA. I am also part of the San Mateo County Mental Health Month Planning Committee which oversees countywide May Mental Health Month (MHM) efforts. Recognized across the state and country, MHM aims to reduce stigma and promote wellness around mental health and substance use issues. For this year’s MHM, we are asking all 20 cities in San Mateo County to join us in proclaiming Mental Health Month and lighting key city buildings in lime green, the official color of the mental health movement. By shining a light on your local city hall or other key building, we can collectively show our local community that they are not alone in facing mental health and substance use challenges.
San Mateo County’s Board of Supervisor Proclamation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 9am. 2021 MHM statewide theme is #HopeForChange. The past year has undoubtedly brought unanticipated changes for us as individuals, families, and communities – leaving us to face these challenges and transform. #HopeForChange reminds us to spread hope and rely on the hope that carried us through a year of change.
I’m copying the MHM Planning Committee Co-Chairs Sylvia Tang and Kristie Lui in case they are needed to address any questions or requests. The MHM Planning Committee is here to support you in this endeavor. We can offer template proclamation, presentation and/or speakers.
Thank you for considering,
Samina Kaushek
