Annexation request from residents of unincorporated West Menlo Park

Please annex our neighbors. One major benefit: Menlo Park will control a good portion of Santa Cruz Ave. by annexing this parcel. Other benefits to Menlo Park are less clear as the staff report indicates that "The current property tax for the area is still in review .... however it is not expected that the tax revenue would be enough to fund the infrastructure improvements identified." We do wonder why a high/low benefit analysis, including how long it would take to pay off the infrastructure costs, could not be provided. Regarding the infrastructure costs, our household is on Santa Cruz Ave (in the city) and we have no expectation of "Install concrete valley gutters or install vertical curb, gutter & sidewalk with storm drain upgrades" nor to our knowledge, do any of our neighbors. Please ask staff what the incremental cost of adding Sharon road to the 2017 Street Resurfacing project would be? Is that being bid at a fixed cost per foot? The staff report also mentions the Santa Cruz Ave/Alameda de las Pulgas Corridor Improvement Study that is underway. The possibility exists to annex many more houses if the city would agree to SAFE http://univpark.org/content/santa-cruzalameda-safety-everyone-safe > recommendations for lane reconfiguration.
