Dear City Council:
I am responding to your desired plans to redevelop the downtown parking lots.
i am not in favor of this development. Why? Lots of reasons:
1) It is the wrong place to build affordable care housing, as those parking spaces are needed for
the shops that are located nearby. If these spaces are removed, patronize will cease to these shops
that depend upon their business, to stay in business. The same would apply to the restaurants.
2) There are lots of other places where this development can be placed. Let me name a few:
Civic Center; Veterans Center on Willow road; the empty buildings along Middlefield Road.
All of these places would be close to shopping areas and public transportation.
3) As a Menlo Park resident, I am NOT in favor of having my property taxes go to supporting this development!
Whatever you decide to build, it should be “self-sustaining”.
In summary; I understand that legal suits are pending, regarding this redevelopment.
As they should.
It boggles my mind that you, as a governing body, do not “hear” the local residents, and how they are so completely
against this project!
I pray that you see the light, and rethink your development plans and location.
Sincerely,
Paul Engel
