Just because the USGS will most likely be developed and include housing that should not change the distribution of housing in all districts of Menlo Park. District four, with downtown parking lots, needs to help carry the burden of housing and all the elements that come with it. District three, where USGS is located, has SRI development, 80 Willow Road is not going away and Atherton has parcels across from SRI included in their housing element. It has become a long wait at the light at Laurel and Ravenswood particularly when the train gate is down.
It would be great to have something retail as well as housing at the USGS.
