Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
My name is David Eckert and I live at 20 Willow Road. I’ve been a homeowner here for the past 10 years. I’m writing about my concerns over the proposed construction at the former Sunset site. What I’ve read about the proposal is appalling! I am someone who is in favor of new and affordable housing. Previously to living here, I lived in the downtown area of Palo Alto for 22 years. Within blocks of my home there were three below market rate apartment complexes. You would never have known that by looking at them. They were built to match the surrounding neighborhood. Instead we are looking at the possibility of having San Francisco style high-rises that are completely inappropriate and out of proportion for our neighborhood. Something like Middle Plaza that is still high density, but wouldn’t change the overall feel of Linfield Oaks would be much for appropriate. I’m wondering how much consideration you have given to the proposed project and what your plans are to get it changed.
