Dear City Council Members, I am deeply disturbed by the idea of having Bryan Lanza, former Trump Campaign AND Citizens United Communications Director on the City's payroll. Please DO NOT move forward with Staff's recommendation to contact with Mercury. I understand we all want the City of Menlo Park to be well-informed and well-positioned to receive the most state and federal funding as possible, but there are other less compromising ways to achieve this. This community overwhelming rejected the Trump platform in last November's election. Only 18% of San Mateo County voters cast their ballot for the Trump/Pence ticket. Bryan Lanza was an important part of the apparatus that not only got Trump elected but was a key advisor preparing countless UNQUALIFIED appointees to key national positions. He prepared them for their often deceptive confirmation hearings. Bryan Lanza currently serves as a CNN Contributor to represent Trump and his positions in the national media spotlight. Please know that members of this community will absolutely know who voted to spend nearly $100,000 of taxpayer funds to support a Trump surrogate.
