City Council Coleman Avenue Pilot April 29 - In support

Dear City Council Members,
I am writing in support of the proposed Coleman Avenue Pilot.
I support the City of Menlo Park in its mission to improve transportation alternatives by enhancing safety for people walking, bicycling, and rolling, and by reducing gaps in the active transportation network. This pilot will advance the transition from high-stress pedestrian and bicycle conditions to lower-stress, more accessible mobility. The Coleman Avenue Pilot will create a more welcoming and inviting environment for people walking, bicycling, and rolling.
Additionally, this project will improve regional bicycle access to several key bikeways and parks, including Flood Park, the Peninsula Bikeway, the Dumbarton Bridge Trail, and the Bay Trail.
As a parent of two children who attend Laurel School, I am especially interested in how this will impact young people in our community. These improvements will allow youth to visit friends and family, grab a snack, head to the park to play soccer, and more. Low-stress infrastructure helps parents feel confident in granting their children more independence.
This project is an essential step toward fostering a safer and more sustainable transportation system across the city, while improving comfort and accessibility for the most vulnerable roadway users—people walking, bicycling, and rolling in Menlo Park and neighboring communities.
Sincerely,

Kevin Rennie
