Hello Members of the City Council, Thank you as always for your service to our community. We live on Coleman Ave and are very excited to hear that the city is looking into solutions for the major traffic issues around Willow road. I unfortunately was not able to get child care tonight - so I wanted to as you to consider not just the voices of residents of the Willows that will be there tonight. If we prevent "cut through" traffic on certain roads - it will increase it on other roads, people are not just going to sit on Willow for hours on end. Coleman and Santa Monica are designated as Safe Routes and are already very congested during morning and evening rush hour, forcing cut through drivers onto them would pose a danger to students going to and from Laurel and MA. Please consider all the potential effects of traffic changes - it would be awful to solve one neighborhoods problem by offloading that problem onto another neighborhood. In the end, we must find a real and lasting solution to the Bayshore/Willow intersection that is at the root of all the traffic, rather than mere stopgap solutions.
