Dear Council,
I’m writing in support of the SRI/Parkline project. I live within walking distance (and walk by often!) and I’m excited to see the site come to life.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to open up the campus and create some very much needed homes, both affordable and market rate. The cost of housing in our area continues to skyrocket each year, and I think it’s really fantastic that the project team has managed to add homes to a site that currently has none.
It’s even more remarkable that they’ve been able to exceed the city’s usual inclusionary requirements for affordable units, given the scale of the site! The units will be a meaningful contribution towards our Housing Element targets, and great homes for members of our community.
I’m therefore in favor of the development agreement — the affordable homes and new park strike me as significant community benefits, and I know they’re the result of many community conversations over the last several years.
