Dear City Council:

As a concerned citizen of Menlo Park, I am very much against the proposed building and construction for downtown Menlo Park.

Our downtown has been dead for a long time. Numerous businesses have closed.
We finally have some new restaurants and stores that will add vitality to our neighborhood, and this proposal will effectively prevent their chance for success.
Let’s not kill their chances, because, if you do, they will close up shop and we will be back where we are, with more store and restaurant closures. It’s not fair to the businesses or to us citizens.

Parking is already quite limited, and adding the proposed construction will make it into a nightmare.

Furthermore, El Camino Real is already quite congested, and with the new construction just north of Oak Grove Avenue, it’s even worse.
We only have 3 main North-South thoroughfares:
Highway 101, Alameda de las Pulgas, and 280.
The proposed construction will cripple things and bring traffic to a standstill in Menlo Park.

I strongly urge City Council to veto this proposal.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jeff Lazarus, MD
