Dear Council Members:
I am unable to attend this evenings meeting and voice my opinion on the development proposals for housing in Downtown Menlo Park, so I am sending this email.
All of the proposals depict gargantuan structures that do not conform with the surrounding buildings and the village character of Menlo Park that distinguish it from a suburb.
I urge you to reconsider your plans for housing development in the Downtown area. Instead, direct your focus to the Civic Center site that will allow you to meet the housing unit goal while preserving an iconic and irreplaceable feature of our town that benefits ALL residents of Menlo Park, as well as those of surrounding communities like Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside.
I understand that you are under pressure to conform to the standards of the states Housing and Community Development office. Please make a thoughtful, well-considered decision for the benefit of our entire community, rather than a hasty decision that will destroy one of the treasured assets of our entire community.
Sincerely,
Carol Carnevale
