Quiet Zone Funding

Dear MP City Council,

To my great consternation and disappointment I learned that the City eliminated the funding for the Quiet Zone from its next budget.

As you are quite aware, there are thousands of MP citizens, visitors, restaurant diners, hotel customers and businesses that are very adversely affected by the loud, intrusive and injurious CalTrain horns, which have doubled in number since we the citizens first approached the Council to declare the city a Quiet Zone. I have written to you before about the well documented medical and mental health effects of such noise throughout the day and night.

After years of advocacy by the community and agreement by the City Council, and after the final engineering report has been completed, it is outrageous, wasteful of dollars spent, and insensitive to the needs of the community to quietly delete this from the budget without notice or discussion. I urge you, I beseech you to restore funding for the QZ. We have waited long enough.

Respectfully,

Elliot J. Krane, MD
