Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I was deeply disappointed to learn that the City is considering removing
the Quiet Zone from its budget planning. This is a critical project that
residents have supported and advocated for over many years.
The engineering design is nearly complete—now is not the time to abandon
the effort. The final step is securing funding. To drop the project at this
stage would disregard the voices of thousands of residents who have
repeatedly called for relief from the constant disruption of train horns.
As a parent, I am especially concerned about the impact on families. My
daughter struggles to sleep through the night because of the loud train
horns. This persistent noise affects our quality of life and wellbeing. A
Quiet Zone would bring much-needed peace to our neighborhood.
We urge you to uphold your commitment to the community and move forward
with the Quiet Zone. Please do not let this long-awaited opportunity slip
away.
Sincerely,
Vivian
