URGENT - Save the Quiet Zone

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members:

I just learned that the City plans to eliminate the Quiet Zone from its
budget planning.

This is outrageous and unacceptable!

Residents have been advocating for a Quiet Zone for years, and the
engineering designs are nearly complete.

The last step is funding. Do not drop the ball.

The City has already spent taxpayer dollars on the feasibility study and
the engineering study. That investment would be a waste of taxpayer money
if you do not continue with this project.

Thousands of people want the train horns to stop.

Silencing the horns not only improves quality of life for the entire city
but will also result in increased revenue to the city.

No more horns means people will be more motivated to spend time outdoors,
patronizing our businesses and dining outdoors at our restaurants which
increases sales tax revenue. More guests will be willing to stay in hotels
that are near the train tracks, increasing occupancy taxes.

On behalf of the 24 homeowners within the Marquis condominium project,
which is near the Encinal crossing, I respectfully request that you revisit
the decision to eliminate Quiet Zone funding.

Sincerely,
Matt Normington
