Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I have just heard that Menlo Park plans to eliminate the Caltrain Quiet Zones from its current budget planning. If true, this is outrageous, unacceptable and does not represent the feelings/desires of a large portion of the tax-paying residents! For many years, residents have been advocating for Quiet Zones as Atherton has implemented and, from what I have heard, the necessary engineering designs for Menlo Park are nearly complete. The last step would be funding which is high on residents’ priority list. Stop the early, wasteful spending on the downtown parking lot elimination plan and put that money to use for what the majority of residents want NOW—Quiet Zones! Nearly all living in Menlo Park want the 24/7 train horns to stop!
