Dear Council Members:
Today, in 45 minutes, I collected 25 signatures on the Ballot Measure from the people who ACTUALLY live and shop in Downtown Menlo Park.
At one point there were 3 people lined up waiting to sign the "ballot measure".
Everyone had a negative comment about the city councils plan to put housing on the downtown parking lots.
Here is a small sample of the anger I heard: "This is a stupid plan", "What nonsense", "What about the Civic Center or the VA?", Horrible idea", "not enough parking in the plan", "They are probably getting something for their vote!", and one said, "Who wants to walk out of their apartment and youre looking at the back of a store, their garbage dumpster, delivery vans? . . . Not too swanky".
Not one person sided with the city councils plan.
Not even one person!
I strongly urge you to ABANDON the plan, and locate a new more acceptable site.
You are wasting taxpayers money on attorneys defending lawsuits that you will lose (my opinion as a former district court judge).
Do What is Right!
