Dear City Council and Senior Staff,
I'm encouraged that tonight you might adopt your work plan for the year. Please do so! It helps the staff better align behind your priorities and reassures the public that you are indeed acting with our best interest in mind.
I'm also happy to see that you are voting on the Climate Action plan (Please adopt!) and reviewing Connect Menlo Community Amenities (Please agendize to revise in line with subcommittee recommendations).
I hope you will continue to prioritize better transit for all through the city of Menlo Park. To me, this means going forward with the Ravenswood Avenue Caltrain grade separation and the Willow Road connector to Middle Road for bicycles and pedestrians.
When the Caltrain electrification happens, we do not want to limit access to our downtown to underpasses through Palo Alto and Redwood City. I'm concerned that this is what will happen if we don't act on the Ravenswood grade separation as soon as possible.
It may seem each week like you're working in a closet, or a void, or just your living room, often for 6 hour stints. Please know that we are listening, whether live or the next day, and we do care. Thank you for continuing to serve the community in this capacity.
Sincerely,
Julie Shanson
