Subject: Add 800 Block Re-opening to Agenda
Dear members of the City Council,
When the council decided to keep the eastbound 800 block closed, it was because of a concern for Galata Bistro’s parklet not having enough capacity. Since then, Galata Bistro has expanded their parklet and no longer uses the street for seating.
In fact, there are no businesses on the 800 Block that are using the closed street for anything. And after a year, there is no indication that anyone is using the street as a place to gather.
Meanwhile the barriers continue to dangerously forcing cars off the road into parking lots, cause kids to ride bikes on the wrong side of the street, reduce visibility, and increase confusion.
And the roadblocks on the 800 block are cutting off all the downstream businesses from needed exposure and accessibility. At the last Chamber of Commerce meeting, there were many merchants extremely upset about the continued road closures.
Beyond the safety and accessibility issues, the barriers are flat-out ugly. The easiest beautification of the downtown would be to simply remove the barriers.
Please add re-opening the 800 block to your agenda so that Santa Cruz Ave. can begin to recover. Time is of the essence.
Thank you,

Urgent request. Please place on next agenda review opening 800 block. The last vote was to keep it closed. because Galata did not have perpendicular parking however they now expanded their parklets off the street without loosing any seating
Now no legitimate reason for keeping it closed.
An accident is not what the City needs
Also parking has been a problem we need all the spaces we can get
Also the unnecessary ugly barriers thru out MP need to be removed ASAP . You need to beautify the city and make it more accessible.
