Dear City Council,
At last week's chamber of commerce meeting, the downtown merchants expressed their frustration at the continued presence of ugly barriers throughout Santa Cruz Ave.
Other cities have parklets without such barriers. Visit downtown Los Altos for a great example. Or just Google "parklets" to see images that show that other parklets do not use such barriers. Even on busy San Francisco streets, parklets do not have barriers.
Those barriers were placed there at the beginning of the pandemic, when anything was acceptable. But that is no longer the case. Menlo Park merchants and shoppers deserve better.
