Dear Honorable Members of the Menlo Park City Council,
We’re reaching out to ensure you’re aware of California’s CalSavers
Retirement Savings Program requirement—and to highlight how the Commission
on the Status of Women (CSW), County of San Mateo, is here to support you
through this important transition. California law now requires all
employers with at least one employee who do not already offer a qualified
retirement plan to register for CalSavers by December 31, 2025. This
mandate is part of the state’s effort to expand access to retirement
savings, especially for employees of small businesses, and to help close
the wealth gap that disproportionately affects women and communities of colo

.
What You Need to Know:
By December 31, 2025, all California employers with at least one
employee—who do not offer a workplace retirement plan—must register for
CalSavers or set up a qualified plan. If you already have one, you can
request an exemption.

CalSavers is a state-sponsored, no-cost retirement savings program for
employees.
