Dear City Council members,
I live on Blake Street, between College Ave and Middle Ave. Prior to the start of the large construction project at El Camino and Middle, I saw a proposal to change the flow of traffic so that no left turns were allowed from or to Middle Ave from Blake. It was part of a larger plan to make Middle more bike friendly, and to make the area near Nealon Park safer for pedestrian traffic.
This change seemed like a great solution to fix a dangerous intersection, where I personally have seen (and once experienced) many near-miss accidents in the crosswalk at Middle and Blake. I know many of the other residents on Blake support the change as well.
Now that the new Nealon Park is extremely busy all day and the construction on El Camino is well underway, I wanted to get an update on the plan for Blake Street. With the traffic patterns on Blake affected tremendously by all the change happening in the immediate vicinity, the plan to make adjustments seems timely and prudent. I hope that the plan is still in place and would appreciate an update that I can share with my neighbors.
