URGENT - Save the Quiet Zone!

Dear Members of the City Council,

I was very disappointed to learn that the City is now considering removing
funding for the Quiet Zone from the upcoming budget. This decision is both
surprising and deeply concerning.

As a long-term resident of Menlo Park, I have seen firsthand how important
this project is to our community. Residents and local businesses have
advocated for the Quiet Zone for years, and the City has already made
significant progress — with engineering designs now nearly complete. At
this stage, the only remaining step is to secure the necessary funding to
implement it.

Thousands of residents have voiced their support for this effort, seeking
relief from the disruptive train horns that impact daily life, public
health, and property values. The City currently has a budget surplus and
other available funding options that could easily allow this project to
move forward.

Abandoning the Quiet Zone now, after years of community input and
investment, would be a disservice to Menlo Park and to all who have worked
in good faith to see this project through. I urge you in the strongest
terms: do not let this opportunity be lost. Please demonstrate your
commitment to the well-being of our community and ensure that funding for
the Quiet Zone remains a priority.

Sincerely,

Patrick Deloulay
