Los Altos is drafting an ordinance and there is a drastic need for one that applies to San Mateo County and Menlo Park. Some local rules are especially needed in West Menlo Park and environs. When driving at 35+ mph I have been overtaken by e-bikers: some of whom are very young and who are not always wearing helmets. On Friday there was a group of 4 very young kids racing (the wrong way) along the Alameda de las pulgas sidewalk. It is also a big problem along the Alpine road pathway (not a trail) through Stanford Weekend Acres. Many of these bikes have been altered to go so fast that they do not even belong in the bike lanes, let alone on sidewalks. It is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. There was one fatality already at the intersection of Palm Drive and Arboretum on the Stanford Campus.
