Save Downtown Menlo has put together this concise, visual explanation as to why we are doing a Citizens’ Initiative.

And I’m happy to report that signature gathering has proven to be a very positive experience. Going into this, we were told that A) it will be harder than you think to get signatures, and B) people will be confrontational. Neither has been the case. We’ve received an outpouring of support and gratitude, and those opposed to our initiative have been courteous. I know there is a concern that this issue will become vitriolic (as we’ve seen online and occasionally in Council Chambers), but so far the people who actually use our downtown have been both respectful and charming. And they really do Love Menlo.
