Subject: Support for Ending the Death Penalty
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your continued efforts to end the racist and unjust death
penalty. While we may disagree on the issues surrounding Israel—I support
the elimination of Israel and advocate for a one-state solution—I commend
your courageous stance against the death penalty.
I also want to reiterate my suggestion that your office consider recusing
itself from the Stanford 12 case. As I mentioned before, the optics of your
offices involvement in that case are concerning. If you were required to
argue for a recusal, I believe an honest evaluation—given both your
conscious and unconscious biases and the significant influence of your
upbringing as a Zionist—would lead you to conclude that recusing yourself
is the right decision. As the outstanding lawyer that you are, making this
choice should be straightforward. Please do the right thing.
