Dear Mayor and City Council
Thank you and your fantastic city staff for your ongoing leadership in
building electrification.
And thank you for providing direction tonight - *Study **Session Item G2* -
potential options for local amendments to the California Building Standards
Code. For Menlo Park to take action before the October deadline would be
greatly appreciated.
I respectively request the following:
- Please support Option A in the staff report, Air Conditioning to Heat
Pump flex path, and Option B, Expanded prewiring in certain building
renovations.
- Please *expand Option B, by adopting POLICY OPTION C (ADDITIONAL
FLEXPATH). *
- I want you to know that Menlo Park is not alone in considering these
important steps. The San Mateo City Council recently took up the issues for
further study and will take it up again soon. So - what Menlo Park does
will have a huge impact on what San Mateo does.
- And also please know that other cities in the Bay Area and across the
state are also considering these actions.
