Dear Mayor Coombs and City Manager Murphy,
I am requesting that you add the Burgess and Belle Haven pool operations to the August 12, 2025 agenda as a study session item.
Ongoing financial issues have already forced hour reductions at Burgess Pool beginning August 18, and both facilities remain at risk of further cuts or closure. These pools serve our entire community - from seniors maintaining their health through water exercise to families teaching children essential water safety skills.
Burgess Pool has personally been a wonderful place for our entire family. Our kids learned to swim at the pool, starting lessons when they were just babies and continuing on through childhood, and now they are members of PASA swim team, swimming there 3-4 times a week. Not only is the pool is source for exercise and fun, it also brings members of the community together and allows our children to be part of a wonderful team based sport.
Our community needs your immediate attention to preserve these essential public amenities that we all help fund as taxpayers.
