Dear City Counsel and Senior City Staff,
I live on Cotton Street in Menlo Park between Santa Cruz and Middle Ave. I have three kids between the ages of 6 and 11 that go to Oak Knoll. The bike improvements made to Middle have made the biking so much safer. Not having cars parked on the street anymore has been a huge improvement so you dont have to swerve around them into the car lane. The markers at the stop sign of Middle and Olive have been a huge improvement to the safety at that intersection. I saw a lot of near misses there and by not having a right turn lane it is so much better. Drivers and bikers are much more aware of each other. I am so pleased much safer it is. I drive, bike and walk middle often and have found no negative impacts from the bike lane pilot. Only positive! My only suggestion would be to possibly install the flashing light cross walk signs that light up when you push the button like the one at Cotton and Santa Cruz.
I hope the city feels the same way about the bike lane pilot and makes it permanent.
