The attached photos are of a tree that was severely trimmed today April 15, starting at 11 am on a property that was cleared for the construction of two new houses. I do not know if the developer applied for and received a permit to do the work. The survival of the tree is now in jeopardy because of the lopsided removal of large branches. We tried to reach MP Public Works but because one person’s email box was full and the other person did not return our call. We then called the police and asked for a code enforcement to come to the site. We were told that code enforcement was not working today and we could leave a message. We asked that the police department call the arborist whose email box was full and she did, resulting in a phone call to us. We do not know if anyone from the City office did a site visit. There needs to be a way for residents to reach staff or code enforcement so that these events are handled in a timely manner. The City’s Planning Commission Staff report dated June 18, 2018 clearly states that the tree damaged today is a Heritage Tree, 26 inches in diameter and is to be protected. This includes to not cut, break, skin or bruise roots, branches or trunks without first obtaining authorization from the City Arborist. “Impacts to this tree should be minor with no long term impacts.” JC Tree Care January 22, 2018 Arborist Report to owner Brielle Johnck Steve Schmidt > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Received on Mon Apr 15 2019 - 17:05:38 PDT
