Thank you for facing and helping resolve difficult issues for our community. Your work is significant and appreciated.
My Menlo Park household of four voting adults encourages you to take the next step toward implementing the bold Climate Action Plan you adopted last year. We have no time to waste can't be said too often. Please draft and enact ASAP an ordinance to prohibit the installation of new gas equipment in homes and buildings throughout the city.
My family is full of angst and more motivated than ever—after learning about the last dire IPCC report—to support your immediate steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, starting with methane. I just read the blog that Bill McKibben posted today reminding everyone: "a dramatic reduction in the amount of CH4 [methane] would be a quick fix that would help slow the rise of global temperatures, giving us more time to work on the carbon quandary." Amen.
Please protect low-income residents in your wording and implementation of a proposed ordinance and make the process of electrification as easy as possible for property owners.
We would love to see Menlo Park respond quickly and assertively to the current "code red for humanity" with this next vital step.
