Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing to urge you - specifically, Mayor Coombs and city manager Murphy - to make the topic of operations at the Burgess and Belle Haven pools a study session item at a regular meeting as soon as possible, but no later than September 9, 2025.
Due to ongoing financial issues, the pool operator is being forced to reduce hours at Burgess Pool starting August 18. Our public pools are vital community assets that provide access to physical fitness, water safety education, and social connections for residents of all ages.
Our 3 kids use the Burgess pool every day and our family and their training would be severely impacted with a pool closure.
Please make aquatics an agenda topic ASAP, before we risk further service reductions or potential closures at both facilities.
