Mayor, Council, and City Manger, As the Founder, President, General Manager, and member of the worker cooperative A Slice of New York, I wanted to share some very exciting news. On Tues, July 9, 2019 at 6:00pm, the City of Santa Clara will be hosting a 60-minute Study Session entitled: Presentation on the Worker Cooperative Business Model. A Slice of New York is the first (and only) brick-and-mortar worker cooperative in Santa Clara County. One of the goals in transitioning to this business model was to further propagate this design to the area and expand the number of employee-owned business in the Valley. I hope you will attend this session, or send someone to learn more about it, to better understand the implications on how it can be a viable option for retiring baby boomers, preserving legacy businesses, and creating more equity in the Valley. I have a very flexible schedule, and I am available to meet with you or your staff to share any details on cooperatives and answer questions you may have.
