on upcoming discussion of building codes

Dear MP City Council:

I have always appreciated your greatly positive and forward-looking
attitude.

Given the present circumstances, and considering the chance to jump
forward ahead of upcoming freeze on reach codes, it is essential to be
confident in keenly following our stipulated path towards righteous,
just, and necessary climate action.

My thanks are to staff for making it possible for council to act on
a very short timeline and establish measures that shall help us keep
the Citys CAP on target.

Council:

I speak from personal experience, living in a 102 year old house, now all
electric and done with gas: these measures can be passed and homes can be
fully electrified at no hardship to our citizens. Electrification yields
health improvements in our homes, for children, and for our neighbors,
and it will save us money in the long run.

Of immediate concern, the present topics of prewiring, AC2HP and flex
path, all provide strong tail-winds for essential building electrification
for homes as well as commercial. We can, indeed must, take steps now
to accelerate progress towards a fully electric Menlo Park. This upcoming
Council discussion and decision is a last good chance and a pivotal step:
we must affirm our direction and commitment to a sustainable future.

With progress at the national faltering, local progress is essential.

Honorable Council, I ask you to stand tall, stand proud, and stand
firm: Earth and future generations need us to continue forward
relentlessly. We cannot stop and we certainly cannot go back. Our
children and grandchildren will appreciate this moment in time when we
decide for the right outcome: for the better future. We cannot fail them.

We, Menlo Park, can do so. We, Menlo Park, can demonstrate leadership
and show the way for the rest of San Mateo County, California, nation
and indeed the world.

Council trust me: Menlo Park Citizens have your back. Vote now to jump
ahead towards a sustainable future. Sooner is not just better, but an
outright must. We support you in this outcome.

Sincerely,
Ole Agesen, Allied Arts
