Dear Menlo Park City Council, Sequoia Healthcare District http://seqhd.org/ > has launched a new and improved service for residents called Sequoia Strong™ http://sequoiastrong.org/ > (formerly 70 Strong), an online, personal directory to healthy living for all ages including Children, Teens, Adults, and Adults 50+ in the District. The Adults 50+ portion of the directory launched on July 23, 2019, and resources for Children, Teens, and Adults will launch in October 2019. All resources in the directory are personally recommended by Sequoia Healthcare District for District residents https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1CmJsex6ByxrRG7bbrBvocDcVxTnCnPu0&ll=37.44246022400598%2C-122.26509805&z=11 >, and most resources are free or low-cost. The directory includes both enrichment activities (such as fitness classes, volunteer opportunities, and social groups), as well as basic needs (including free and low-cost health care, senior transportation, and food services). In addition to the directory, Sequoia Strong™ keeps residents up to date on Community Events http://sequoiastrong.org/events/ > (including city events) and is home to the hottest health blog http://sequoiastrong.org/blog/ > in the District, featuring topics like What You Need to Know About E-Cigarettes and Vaping http://sequoiastrong.org/adults-50-independent-living/what-you-need-to-know-about-e-cigarettes-and-vaping/ >, Stretching Isn’t Just for the Younger Generation http://sequoiastrong.org/adults-50-fitness/stretching-isnt-just-for-the-younger-generation/ >, and Boost Your Brain Power! http://sequoiastrong.org/adults-50-health/boost-your-brain-power/ > Sequoia Strong™ brings our local community resources, activities, and organizations together in one place where residents can find what they need to live healthy, fulfilled lives at every age. You may recognize that this goal is very well aligned with the local and global Age Friendly Cities movement. With Sequoia Strong™ in place, cities in the Sequoia Healthcare District (southern San Mateo County) are closer to being not only age friendly, but overall health friendly. I am available to give you a more thorough presentation of the program if this would be helpful to the City Council. At the very least, we would like for you to be informed of this new service and help us to spread the word to our shared community. Please let me know if I may drop off or send you educational materials/flyers about the program. We invite you to visit us at www.sequoiastrong.org http://www.sequoiastrong.org/ >.
