We recently moved to Menlo Park, and while we have not had the chance to read the full report of EQC recommendations, we want to express our general support for taking action to combat climate change/carbon emissions. However, we do ask that the city council take steps to ensure that lower-income Menlo Park residents are not unduly burdened with heavy financial costs. We also ask the city council to address, publically and transparently, how moving to electrification might result in power outages, especially in light of recent outages (thinking of Flex Days and PG&E's wild-fire related outages). I think addressing this issue would go a long way towards convincing those who are hesitant about adopting these EQC recommendations.
