Yes! I would be proud to have Menlo Park be a leader in banning new gas appliances to combat global warming. It would not be easy, but is important to do. Significant rebates and assistance to low-income residents are important including on small stoves & heaters. Another compelling reason to ban gas cooking stoves and heaters is the scientific data showing that very bad toxic fumes are in indoor air from these appliances even when vents are used. Menlo Park should use our tax money to do every thing possible to help residents and businesses have solar panels, preserve and care for trees (enforce 7/2020 ordinances), ban gas-powered leaf blowers (have a buy-back program or discount coupon), paint more green on bicycle routes, install EV charging stations in parking lots and parks, etc. It all counts! If Menlo Park doesn't do it, why should we expect others to do so?
