Greetings council members - As an interested resident of North Fair Oaks, Menlo Park, (one block off Marsh Rd. near Bay Rd. intersection) I attended a previous workshop on this development which will effect my neighborhood. To her credit, council member Cecilia Taylor was there and I hope she reported to you all what a fiasco it was. The very few residents who showed up completely derailed the developer’s agenda. They are understandably fed-up with development on their side of 101. They didn’t want to talk about “colors and materials” and “neighborhood benefit contributions” to help the plan. They wanted to talk about building more affordable housing on the other side of 101 and getting some relief from constant construction in the Belle Haven area. My point was yes, there is some common sense in building housing where jobs are being created, however, there is no common sense in building in area where the residents will have to get in their cars and drive back over to the west side of Menlo Park or Redwood City every time they want to go to: a bank a grocery store a gym a restaurant a hardware store a drug store an office supplies store any public school except one K-8 school virtually anything needed they have to get in a car to drive to it. I encourage the other council members to educate themselves on the concerns of their constituents on "the other side" of Menlo Park. Thank you Cecilia Taylor for your efforts. Lisa S.
