CLIMATE CHANGE, 2019 - 2024

Honorable Mayor and Council Members: Climate Change is a hot topic these days, and rightfully so. With issues like sea level rise, flooding, wildfires, hurricanes, lose of food, etc. no wonder children and others are making this a front row seat issue. Menlo Park's only SISTER CITY, that is, Galway, Ireland has focused on this issue resulting in the publication of an excellent 108 page booklet, a copy of which I enclose for your edification. There is much to learn from Galway, as many of their day-to-day issues (such as traffic and housing) are similar to those in Menlo Park. As Sister Cities are to be friends, sharing BEST PRACTICES can be an invaluable way of gaining new insights on common problems. As the relationship with Galway goes back over 150 years Menlo Park may wish to share with them our Best Practices too. I invite you to review Galway's website, their Facebook page and even reviewing their City Council agendas and Staff Reports for more information. Next March, representatives from Galway may be in Menlo Park, which will give you an opportunity to discuss this and other issues in person. Respectifully, Jim Lewis President Menlo Park Historical Association (MPHA) 800 Alma Street Menlo Park, CA 94025 Tel.
