Dear Councilmembers, My name is Yvonne Murray. My husband, Kirk Gould and I are residents at 4 Elder Ct. I support the Urgency Ordinance you are considering to adopt on Tuesday, November 12th. Eviction protections and limiting large rental rate increases are very important for our community. I moved to the Bay Area in 1981 after graduating from college in Minnesota. We started out renting until we were able to afford our first home. Apartments were much more affordable than they are now. Two of our four children are living out of state because the cost of housing is so high here. Our other two children live in the East Bay, where prices are slightly more affordable. It is important to have affordable rental options to have a vibrant and diverse community. Please vote for the Urgency Ordinance to preserve the current diversity in our community until the state legislation takes effect. I hope you vote in support of this urgency ordinance.
