To the City Council, I’m writing to applaud you for moving forward with the ordinance to ban the sale of e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco in our community. As the mother of a high school and a middle school student here in Menlo Park, I am well aware of the pervasiveness of these products in our community and around the country. I am deeply concerned about easy access to them, given the evidence that they are unsafe for teens and children and are also make them much more likely to become cigarette smokers in the future.
