Dear City Council Members,
I find the list of housing sites suggested by SaveDowntownMenlo.org
compelling. I hope you will ask city staff to evaluate these options before
you move ahead with any of the proposals for the downtown parking lots. It
would be good to put all options on the table, including the downtown area,
to evaluate together. Another important consideration is the multi-year
disruption to downtown businesses while building on the parking lots.
I would also appreciate receiving a summary of our state-mandated housing
numbers and how many required housing units will be fulfilled by current or
planned development, including the SRI site, possibly the USGS site, and
elsewhere.
