Hello Honorable City Council,
I am writing again to strongly support the proposed housing on city-owned
parking lots in downtown Menlo Park as a neighbor in Palo Alto. Back in
June when this topic came before council, I noted the following:
"The future residents in these homes will be your biggest champions for a
thriving downtown community. They will be repeat customers at local
businesses; they will be exceptional students at your schools; they will
make downtown more beautiful and safe; they will be proud supporters of
environmentally-friendly, people-first transit."
My sentiments have only gotten stronger.
I am also asking the City Council to revise the RFP based on the
recommendations from Jeremy Levine and the Housing Leadership Council of
San Mateo County. Menlo Park (and Palo Alto) should be lowering the barrier
to projects like this, not raising them.
