Dear Council Members,
By this email I urge you to NOT support the proposal to build housing in public parking lots located in Menlo Park’s Central Business District (CBD).
I am a former resident of East Creek Drive, now living in Woodside. While in Menlo, I established in Menlo Park the majority of my personal business relationships over the years; real estate representation, legal services, grocery needs, hardware supplies, banking and financial services, haircut needs, medical and pharmacy needs, restaurant patronage, bookshop availability, and home furnishing products.
I continue to source these services in Menlo Park today, because other San Mateo County communities like Woodside, Atherton,Portola Valley do not provide them. The availability of adjacent parking is important to conducting my considerable business in your City.
While it is laudible of Menlo to subsidize housing development to a degree that makes sense, I consider it unwise and a disservice to the local and wider community to risk the viability of Menlo’s CBD when alternative housing sites are available.
