Dear members of city council,

I strongly support your plan to build affordable housing on the downtown
parking lots. My understanding is that the structures would also have
public parking in them (or that there would be a public parking structure
built alongside the housing), so all the people who drive to downtown to
shop or dine will still have places to park. It seems to me that our
downtown businesses will benefit from having a bunch of new residents in
walking distance. The city should also prioritize having a reasonable
number of parking spaces be available for free for the people who work at
the downtown businesses.
I think Menlo Park will greatly benefit from adding affordable housing. I
hope that the city will find ways to support creating many units of
affordable housing, including some that is extremely low-income, and I hope
this project will be able to get approved & built relatively quickly.

My parents bought a house here in Menlo Park in 1976, when I was 5. They
had decent middle-class jobs, and when I was a kid, there was a wider
variety of working people able to afford homes here. I think we would all
benefit from fostering more of that diversity again.

Thank you,
Patricia Good
