Living on an alley way in downtown Menlo Park

Dear Mayor Combs and the City Council Members,

Why the City Council, and the Menlo Together group, are so eager to develop
substandard housing on the downtown parking lots is beyond me.

The residents of anything built on parking lots #1 and #3 will be living on
narrow, hazardous, alley ways filled with dumpsters and delivery trucks
while being deprived of sunlight and trees.

The downtown dumpsters are emptied early in the morning five days a week
and raided by scavengers (two-legged and four-legged) late at night seven
days a week. It makes for a noisy, ugly, and unhealthy environment.

Everyone on the City Council, the city planners, and the Menlo Together
folks, need to take a walk down Ryan Lane and stand in the area behind the
restaurants that have already closed. Take a good look around and ask
yourself if this is what you really want for our new residents? Is this
what you would want for yourself? Then ask yourself one more question— is
it really the best we can do?

Sincerely yours

Lyn McMillan

50 year resident of Menlo Park
