Hello Council, I realize that you know about the attached flyer. However, I'm writing you via CCIN to better alert the general public and to encourage more people to become a Block Preparedness Captain as a practical way to help their neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents are seeing an increase in individual efforts on NextDoor towards helping neighbors. For example, two people (unknown to each other) have recently posted forms to collect volunteer information and information from those who need help. We would like to better coordinate the volunteer response. We also recognize that not everyone uses NextDoor. So we want to more broadly alert the general public as to the existence of our organization and who people can help. The MPC Ready (working name) organization also "reports" into the MP Fire District and is one of its three official community emergency readiness volunteer team. We want to work in tandem with our local government and the City of MP Office of Emergency Services. We will keep the local government leadership well informed as to our activities. Longer term, we want to build a viable and lasting organization, such as the successful model in our neighbor Palo Alto, where neighbors know each other, and where most residents are proactively prepared for major disasters. If you know of anyone who would like to become a Block Captain (or even a Neighborhood Coordinator who looks after 5-10 Block Captains) please forward the attached flyer to them. Please also ask them to get in touch with me to learn more. My contact information is in the flyer. Thank you very much, Lynne Bramlett, MPC Ready (working name) application/pdf attachment: Block_Captain_Recruitment_V3.pdf
