Dear City Council,
My name is Jennifer Baskin. I am a Menlo Park resident, former Parks and
Recreation commissioner and active school and community volunteer. I am
truly shocked that you continue to move forward with the downtown
development on the parking lots. Businesses I know and love will never
survive without easy access to parking, let alone during the construction
phase.
I don’t understand why, knowing this proposed development will move to a
resident vote, you continue to waste precious resources on the parking lot
development, instead of focusing on better alternative sites. Civic Center,
SRI, Bohannon - it’s completely untrue that there aren’t alternatives.
Downtown is not the place.
You have a duty to the CURRENT residents of Menlo Park to listen. And take
feedback. Please don’t destroy a town, and a community of people who love
Menlo Park, for a community who doesn’t live here yet.
