I am very much in favor of making this decision one for the downtown merchants, shoppers and residents to make as they will be the ones most affected.
I moved here when I was a young girl in 1953, before Stanford Shopping Center, so have seen many changes to our downtown. But none as consequential as shutting down 3 downtown parking lots for dense high rise apartments.
I have been attending City Council meetings on this subject - either in person or on TV and every meeting has left me wondering can 5 people really all be deaf? This plan just keeps going forward no matter how many people are opposing it. I would think you might be happy to hand it over to the will of the people.
Saying this I do want to thank you for your time and the work you do. I understand it is a difficult job and hope the citizens of Menlo Park can count on you to work together with them to explore better alternatives.
Thank you,
Barbara Mason
