Dear MP Council Members, As a Menlo Park resident I am concerned- as I am sure you are- about our most financially and physically vulnerable community members. Accordingly, I urge you to take immediate action to pass an emergency ordinance for our city that: 1) Establishes a moratorium on eviction: protect tenants in all residential units from eviction during the coronavirus state of emergency, including units not under rent control, and student dorms 2) Establishes a freeze on rent increases: protect tenants in all residential units from rent hikes during the coronavirus state of emergency 3) Bans eviction for non-payment if failure to pay is due to following local health guidance; self-quarantine, illness or the illness of a family member; or loss of income related to COVID-19 4) Provides for delayed rent collection after the end of state of emergency, with no late fees.a Michele Wheeler Woodland Ave. Received on Fri Mar 20 2020 - 16:48:22 PDT
