covid-19 and the county

I am writing to let you know about my experience today with the San Mateo County Public Health Dept. Yesterday, Monday, I received a text message from my dentist's office, Roos Dental, in Redwood City telling me that he was ill and was being tested for Covid-19 and therefore they needed to cancel my appointment two weeks from now. I had visited the dentist last Wednesday March 18. I called the dentist's office and was told that Dr. Roos was ill and was being tested for Covid -19. I asked to be informed of the results of the test so that I could proceed appropriately if I had indeed been exposed. Today Tuesday, I did not hear from the office. I called multiple times but there was no response. I looked online for a County Public Health phone number and saw that San Mateo Co. residents were expected to dial 211. I did so and followed the prompts. I reached a very nice woman named Dorothy(?) who did not know that San Mateo was in California. She spent 15 minutes on the phone with me mostly because her computer was so slow she could not find a phone number for me to call. Eventually she gave me the number for San Mateo County Hospital, which I already knew. I called SMCH and was told to call 211? End of story and information. So my point is that San Mateo Co. has clearly dropped the ball. All the experts are telling us that testing and containment are paramount. Yet I cannot find out if I need to be tested. What can you do you? Thank you. Triona Gogarty Received on Tue Mar 24 2020 - 18:22:13 PDT
